Warren - Jerrold J. Aiken, Sr., 79, of Warren died on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
He leaves his sons, Jerrold J. Aiken, Jr. of Warren and Jeffrey A. Aiken and his wife Stephanie of Mountain Home, ID; 6 grandchildren, Jessica Fulghum, Sarah Jo Aiken, Julia Aiken, Destiny Deyo, Nicholas Aiken, Marissa Aiken; his sister, Barbara A. Aiken of West Warren; two half-sisters, Jackie Aiken of Monson, Cheryl Aiken of Monson, and his half-brother, Allen Aiken of Port Orange, FL. Jerrold was predeceased by his loving wife of 47 years, Ella J. (LaVigne) Aiken, his son Brian E. Aiken, three brothers, William Aiken, Raymond Aiken and David Aiken, and a half-sister Joan Ross. He was born in Worcester, son of the late William J. and Hazel (Slate) Aiken.
Jerrold joined the U. S. Air Force after high school and later served in the U. S. Air Force Reserves, from which he retired after serving 20 years. He worked for Warren Pumps for more than 30 years, before retiring as Foreman in the Test Department.
Jerrold was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed reading James Patterson novels, playing Keno and lottery scratch cards, but most especially getting on his trike and heading to Salisbury Beach where he had a getaway.
He was a member of the Adams-Coney-Frew American Legion Post 244, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, the Polish Club, and the Blue Knights.
Calling hours for Jerrold will be held on Friday, May 10, 2019, from 5 to 7 PM in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main Street in West Brookfield. Burial will be held privately at a later date. At the family's request, in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Adams-Coney-Frew American Legion Post 244, P.O. Box 252, West Brookfield, MA 01585 or to the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, 2167 Main Street, West Warren, MA 01092.
