Joan Veinot

November 30, 1960 — April 24, 2021

West Brookfield - Joan (Korzec) Veinot, 60, of West Brookfield died on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield from complications of a brain injury she suffered in February 2021.

She leaves her loving husband of 35 years, David P. Veinot; her father, Paul Korzec of West Brookfield and Manning, SC; her sister, Susan Dugay and her husband Mark of West Brookfield; her sister, Carol Luyrink and her husband John of Paxton; her nephews and nieces, Christopher and Andrea Harry, and Jack, Matthew and Benjamin Luyrink. She was predeceased by her mother, Nancy (Wood) Korzec.

Joan was born in Ware and was a graduate of Quaboag Regional High School. She had been employed for more than a decade as the Executive Assistant to the Chair of UMass Medical School's pathology department in Worcester, where she coordinated the grant submission process and other logistics related to faculty recruitment and office staffing.

Joan was a loving and devoted wife, daughter, sister and friend. She was generous with her time and held several volunteer positions for the Town of West Brookfield, including the Cultural Council, the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Asparagus Festival Committee. She especially enjoyed baking, boating, karaoke, travel, exploring new destinations and long walks with her Weimaraner pal Lucy. Her easy going and friendly demeanor produced many life-long friends, not just here in Massachusetts, but also going back to the times when she resided in California and New Jersey.

Funeral Services for Joan will be held privately.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL, 32256 or www.woundedwarriorproject.com
