John P. Dangutis

Ware - John P. Dangutis, 77, of Ware, died on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus, after a long period of declining health.



A devoted husband he leaves his loving wife of 55 years, Dorothy H. Dangutis; his daughter, Lisa M. Dangutis-Sullivan and her husband Patrick of Northampton, his son, William D. Dangutis and his wife Kristi of Waterford, Wisconsin, and his cherished grand-daughter, Braydie. He was born in Ware, son of the late John F. Dangutis and Olga (Wojnas) Dangutis.



Mr. Dangutis was proud of his service in the United States Air Force. He was a member in the 20th Tass division. He was stationed at Danang during the Vietnam War and participated in the Tet offensive. During his service, he earned the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry and a Bronze Star. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and a life member of the Vietnam Veterans Associations.



John earned an associate's degree from Northampton Commercial College. John worked at Pratt and Whitney in Connecticut as an experimental aircraft engine mechanic.  Prior he worked at the former Shawnee Aircraft Lines in Florida. Lastly, he retired from Digital Equipment Company due to illness from Agent Orange.



"Jack" loved to walk on the beach with his wife "Dottie" during trips to Maine. He loved to fish and to travel to many different places. He adored his cats Princess, Cuddles and Magic. "Jack" will be dearly missed by his many family members including his wife, children, grandchild, nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be missed by many friends as well.



Following cremation, John's urn will be laid to rest in the Veterans' National Cemetery in Bourne, MA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Second Chance Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 136, East Brookfield, MA 01515 or the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.



Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St., in Ware is assisting his family with arrangements.
