John P Flamand

May 25, 1965 — March 11, 2019

Ware - John Paul Flamand, 53, of Ware passed away on Monday, March 11, 2019 at Baystate Medical Hospital in Springfield.



For 35 years, John worked as a timber framer and master carpenter. He took pride in multiple projects including restoration work at Louisa May Alcott's house, building the cradle that held a Paul Revere casted bell in the Bulfinch Church in Lancaster and many other church restorations across Massachusetts. Among his restoration talents, he also built many homes including crafting many on Martha's Vineyard, barns and garages.  John was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time with his beloved dogs. For about 22 years, John participated in the Hardwick Fair chainsaw competition and won numerous ribbons.



He leaves many loved ones to cherish his memory including his parents Beverly A. Flamand (Arsenault) and Roger J. Flamand; his wife Aileen R. Kelly Flamand; his daughter, Taylor J. Flamand; his step-daughter Courtney A. Varnum; three siblings, Lisa Jacques and her husband Michael, their two daughters Hannah and Amanda; Scott Flamand and his wife Sue and their daughter Samantha; and Todd Flamand, his companion Elizabeth Smith and step-daughter Emma; countless aunts, uncles and cousins. John also shared years of friendship with a plethora of people and last, but not least, his faithful canine companion Ellie Mae.



For those who want to attend, the family is hosting a Celebration of Life in honor of John's birthday on May 25, with details to follow.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Friends of Quabbin Inc., Quabbin Administration Building 485 Ware Road, Belchertown, MA 01007.



In honor of John's motto, "We're not here for a long, just a good time."
