Barre - John W. Kokansky, 77, of Barre, died on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 suddenly at home.
He leaves his wife of 53 years, Theresa (Tuttle) Kokansky; his son, Matthew Kokansky and his companion Jean Pierce of Spencer; his daughter, Jacqueline Leveille and her husband Tom of North Carolina as well as his sisters, Kally Judycki and her husband Michael of West Brookfield, and Kathy Hanson and her husband Richard of North Brookfield; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, William and Katherine (Bullard) Kokansky; his daughter, Sharon Lapierre of Spencer; his brother, Matthew T. Kokansky of North Brookfield and his sister, Bonnie Sheldon of Spencer.
John was a long-time employee of Waste Management where he worked in both construction as well as a heavy equipment operator. After retiring, he enjoyed doing local construction jobs around the area.
You could always count on John to be wearing his favorite hat. When not working, John enjoyed socializing with friends at the South Barre Rod and Gun Club.
Services for John will be held privately at a later date.
