John ""Jack' O'Neill Jr.

January 6, 1936 — October 5, 2014

Warren---John  F. "Jack" O'Neill Jr., 78 of Nelligan Terrace, departed this world on Sunday October 5, 2014, to join in eternity his loving wife Barbara. He left life the way he lived it , on his own terms and in his own way. Jack is survived by his oldest son John, his son Dave and his wife Lisa, and devoted grandchildren John F. O'Neill III, and Shannon. Above all he leaves his very special caregiver and only daughter Cheryl. Jack was born at home on January 6, 1936 to John and Mabel O'Neill. Like his father before him, Jack was the long serving Highway Surveyor and Superintendent of Streets for the Town of Warren, before retiring in 2001. A veteran of the US Army, Jack was proud to serve his country and of his Irish roots. But most of all he was proud of his children and especially his grandchildren, seeing both graduate from the University of Massachusetts. Any of our success can be tied directly to the values he taught us about respect, hard work, and taking care of those less fortunate than you. He was a devout Red Sox Fan and was rewarded for his perseverance with three World Championships. He was a simple, modest man who never asked for anything but gave everything. Anyone who had the good fortune of really knowing Jack has a story of his generosity and great sense of humor. He truly was the friend a friend would want to be. Rather than be sad for our loss, we choose to celebrate his life. A life lived well. At Jack's request all services will be private. Memorial contributions to the Mass. Special Olympics ( www.specialolympicsma.org ) or to the Dana-Farber Jimmy Fund( www.JimmyFund.org ). Condolences may be expressed at www.charbonneaufh.com .
