Joseph John Bartoszek Sr.

Gilbertville---Joseph "Joe" Bartoszek of Gilbertville, died unexpectedly at the age of 86 on June 4th, 2014. He was born on April 16, 1928 in Chicopee to John and Barbara (Runniszka) Bartoszek. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. When returned home after his military service he married the love of his life Doris (Piche) Bartoszek. He worked for many years on the family farm and then as a mechanic at Warren Knitted Fabrics until he retired. He never slowed down in retirement though, and loved nothing more than working around his house or tinkering with anything that needed fixing. In his younger days he was also a recreational pilot. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends who will remember him for his strong work ethic, tireless devotion to his wife and willingness to help anyone that needed it. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Doris Bartoszek, his three children and their spouses Rita and Bernie Wilmot of Warren, Sandra Crampton of Ware, and Jay and Mary Bartoszek of Warren. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, and numerous, great and great-great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins. Services for Joe will be held on Thursday June 12th at the Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St. at 6:30 pm . Calling hours will also be held on Thursday beginning at  4 pm until the service at 6:30 pm.
