West Brookfield – Joseph S. DiSanto, 80, of West Brookfield, died in the early morning hours on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus.
He leaves his devoted and caregiving wife of 36 years, Cindy M. (King) DiSanto; two children, Mark DiSanto of Georgia and Lori Vernon and her husband Theo of North Carolina, as well as his four grandchildren, Theo "TJ" Vernon, Stephen Vernon, Derek DiSanto, and Carter DiSanto, and three great-grandchildren, Raelynn, Lily, and Remi. He also leaves his brothers-in-law, Stewart King, Scott King and his wife Diane, Stephen King and his wife Barbara, his daughter-in-law, Terrie Wood, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Stephen DiSanto, his granddaughter, Halie DiSanto, and his brothers, Paul and Edward DiSanto. He was born in Albany, New York, son of the late Joseph J. and Mary (Mutterer) DiSanto.
Although he suffered a stroke 19 years ago, Joe still enjoyed his independence with Cindy’s continued care. Prior to his stroke, Joe and Cindy owned a Pet Store where Joe conducted professional dog training classes. He also worked in security at the University of Hartford and at the former Wm. E. Wright Company. He enjoyed camping and being able to spend time with his family.
Joe is a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam war.
A Funeral Service for Joe will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 10am in the Varnum Funeral Home, 43 East Main St., in West Brookfield. Calling hours will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 4:30 to 6:30pm. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in West Brookfield in the spring.
