West Brookfield – Judith A. “Judie” “Mema” (Anderson) Cargill, 79, of West Brookfield, passed away on Monday morning, February 10, 2025, with her family by her side.
She leaves her daughters, Krystal Smith and her husband Douglas of Bristol, Virginia, Karyn Cargill of Ware, Kati Cargill of Newark, Ohio, and Keryth Cargill of West Brookfield; as well as 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her brother, R.E. “Andy” Anderson and his wife Jan of Plain City, Ohio, and her cousins, Jane Anderson of Alexandria, Virginia, Ted & wife Lois Anderson of Tempe, Arizona, and Roberta Pierce of Spencer. She was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Peter B. Cargill, in 2006. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Earl R. and Barbara F. (Winslow) Anderson.
She graduated from North High School in Worcester and later went on to earn her CNA Certification. She worked as a CNA in the former Quaboag on the Common (now Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center), and at the former Mason Research Institute in Worcester. She also worked part-time in the office at the Copper Lantern Motel in West Brookfield for 20 years.
Judie held her faith in Jesus close and was a long-time active member of the Pilgrim Baptist Church in North Brookfield. She also sang with the former choir, the Brimfield Area Master Singers. She loved her home near the lake, all kinds of lighthouses, and most of all her faith, and her large extended family.
A Memorial Service for Judie will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 11am, in the Pilgrim Baptist Church, 33 West Brookfield Road, in North Brookfield. Her burial will be held privately in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon, where she will rest in peace with her husband Peter.
