Karen Elizabeth Carr

July 9, 1936 — March 30, 2014

Ware-Karen  Elizabeth  (Ford)  Carr, 77, formerly of Valley View Apts., passed away on March 30, 2014. She was born in Springfield daughter of the late Charles and Madeline (Chase) Ford on July 9, 1936. She resided in many area towns, Thorndike, Palmer and Monson before settling in Ware in 2000. She worked at the Monson Developmental Center for 24 ½ years before taking early retirement. Karen touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She will always be remembered as a loving, caring, happy woman that dedicated her life to her family. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and general conversation with her friends, the QVC Network, and spending time with family. She enjoyed the companionship of her dog Belle and taking long walks through  Grenville Park and the Quabbin, with her close friend Henry. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son Jeffrey Allen Carr of Monson and  her sister Janet Kline in Arizona.  Karen leaves behind her sister Dorothy Bishop and her husband Dana of Lady Lake, Florida, her brother Robert Ford and his wife Myrna in Nebraska. She also leaves her loving children Richard F. Carr Jr. and his wife Kathy of Monson, Mitchell Carr and his wife Barbara of Palmer, Kathy (Carr) Legge and her husband Kenneth of Belchertown, her former husband Richard F. Carr Sr. of Ware, as well as 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. The Carr Family would like to thank all the staff and members of Baystate Hospice Care, Griswold Home Care and Touched By An Angel for the excellent care given our Mother. Calling Hours will be held on Friday April 4, at the Charbonneau Funeral Home , 30 Pleasant St., Ware, from 4 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Karen's memory to the Baystate Mary Lane Oncology Unit, 85 South St. Ware Ma. 01082.
