Ware- Kevin M. Blackmer, Sr. of Ware passed away on Friday, July 3rd 2026. Kevin was born in Ware to the late Raymond and Florence (Allard) Blackmer and grew up in Gilbertville. He graduated from Quabbin Regional High School, class of 1983. He worked at W.E. Wrights in Warren, Hardwick Kiln in Gilbertville, and various types of construction or handyman work in the area. Metal scrapping with his long-time partner, Rebecca Grout of Ware was a favorite pastime. Watching baseball in Spring and football in Fall was important. Helping was in his nature. He could often be found doing landscaping at his sister’s. Then he would relax on the porch and watch each light-up lawn ornament, that he most likely gifted her, illuminate until they all lit at night. Celebrating each holiday with decorative lights was a passion of his. Big Boy, his beloved cat, is going to miss sitting at the slider with him watching birds at the feeders together. He leaves behind his son Kevin M. Blackmer, Jr. of Ash Fork, AZ; and his three siblings Kenneth C. Blackmer and wife Diane of La Vergne, TN, sister Karen A. Hughes and partner Kevin G. Pelletier of Ware, and brother Keith J. Blackmer and wife Shannan of Barre. He leaves his nephews Christopher C. Hughes and wife Jackie of South Hadley, Justin R. Blackmer of South Barre, Joseph K. Blackmer of Barre, and John Blackmer, as well as his niece Laurie Blackmer and partner Robert Rice and her son Jeremy McDonald of La Vergne, TN. Kevin also leaves behind his friends Mickey, Stevie and Mike. Besides his parents, he is also predeceased by his sister Kelley M. Blackmer, and niece Cheyenne N. Blackmer.
