WARE: Lorena A. (Crimmins) Obrzut, 70, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 21, 2026, with her children by her side. Her husband of 40 years, Stanley S. Obrzut predeceased her in 2020. She is survived by her children: David S. Obrzut of Ware, Jessica E. Burrows and her husband Daniel of Westfield, Elizabeth A. Obrzut of Ware and Catherine L. Obrzut-Keefner and her husband Kurtiss of North Adams; her grandsons: Jackson and Oliver Burrows; her sisters: Ellen Giffhorn and her husband Kenwood of PA and Elizabeth Schneier and her husband Ronald of CT; her sister-in-law Saranne Crimmins of Plymouth; her brother-in-law William Smead of WA; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her siblings Brian Crimmins and Anne Smead predeceased her.
Lorena was born and raised in Palmer, the daughter of the late Stephen and Josephine (Sawicki) Crimmins. She graduated from Palmer High School in 1973 and then earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Fitchburg State College. Lorena worked as a bank teller, where she met her future husband. They married in 1979 and started their family in Palmer, moving to Ware in 1989. Once their kids were grown, she worked in the Ware Public Schools as a substitute teacher for several years. Lorena loved teaching children, spending time with her family and her grandsons, knitting, reading, and canning tomatoes. All who knew Lorena will miss her dearly.
All are invited to attend her visitation on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 9-10:45am in Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant Street, Ware, MA 01082. Her funeral Mass will follow at 11am in All Saints Catholic Church, 17 North Street, Ware, MA 01082 with burial in St. Thomas Cemetery, Thorndike Street, Palmer, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lorena’s memory may be made to the Ware Young Men’s Library Association, 37 Main Street, Ware, MA 01082 or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
