Ware - Loretta L. Whitcomb, 81, of Ware, died suddenly on Saturday, December 24, 2022 at her home.
She leaves her daughters, Karen Genereux and her husband Michael of Ware, and Louise Reiter and her husband Randall of Colorado; five grandchildren, Elissa Morrell, Kyle Genereux, Bradley and Brian Beaudin, and Rachel Roundy; eight great-grandchildren, Luke, Jacob, Abigail, Mason, Connor, Shiloh, Brynley and Juniper; her sister, Elaine Wagner; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Lloyd, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was born in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Leroy and Mary C. (Carson) Lloyd. She is predeceased by her brother, Michael Lloyd and sister Barbara Gnatek.
Loretta worked as an Administrative Secretary at the Massachusetts State Police Academy in New Braintree for over twenty years before retiring. Prior to that she worked at the former Belchertown State School. She has recently served on the Board of Directors of her homeowner's association.
Loretta had a profound love for her family. She moved with her family to Ware from Philadelphia in the 1950's. Loretta loved to travel when she was able, spending many weeks at the beach. She was passionate about politics and enjoyed reading. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her much joy.
A Celebration of Life for Loretta will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 10:00am to 12:00pm in the Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St. in Ware, followed by a reception at Teresa's Restaurant. A Graveside Service will be held in the spring in New Saint William Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts, 1055 Commonwealth Ave., Boston, MA 02215.
