Ware/West Brookfield - Lucille Mattison, 84, a former long-time resident of West Brookfield, died on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer.
She leaves her children, Christine St. Laurent and her husband Scot of West Warren, Lisa Nurek and her husband Stanley of West Warren, and John Mattison, Jr. and Jill of New York; 7 grandchildren, Nicholas, and Jacob, and Wyat St. Laurent, Angela and Andrew Nurek, Daniel Sohlman, and Mandy Ashleigh, as well as 3 great-grandchildren, Abigail, Ryder, and Victoria St. Laurent. She also leaves her dear cat, Noki. She was predeceased by her husband John E. Mattison in 2021. Lucille was born in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Michael and Tessie (Weslosky) Chervanick.
Lucille worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center for 30 years prior to retirement. She enjoyed playing bingo at St. Mary and St. Aloysius churches and was a voracious reader of novels. Lucille appreciated the company of the many friends she made while living at Cedarbrook where they could spend time having meals and playing bingo together. Many cats over the years were lucky enough to be her constant companions and she always enjoyed their company.
At her request, Funeral Services for Lucille will be held privately. Varnum Funeral Home, 43 East Main St. in West Brookfield is assisting her family with her arrangements. An online tribute page is available at varnumfuneralhome.com
