Mabel F. Grimes, 87
Brookfield - Mabel F. (Lyons) Grimes, 87, of Gay Rd., died Tuesday, September 9, 2014 surrounded by her loving family.
She leaves her husband of 53 years, Kenneth E. Grimes; one son, Donald K. Grimes and his wife Sharon of Brookfield; two sisters, Helen Chenevert and Muriel Lane of North Brookfield; two grandchildren, Derek and Brett Grimes and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five siblings, Ethel, Bertha, Dorothy, Joseph and Thomas. She was born and grew up in North Brookfield, daughter of the late Joseph and Annie (Beswick) Lyons before moving to Brookfield in 1961. She graduated from North Brookfield High School.
Mrs. Grimes worked as a secretary for Gavitt Wire and Cable Company in Brookfield for 20 years before retiring in 1964.
She was a member of the Brookfield Congregational Church and enjoyed knitting and most of all taking care of her family.
A Funeral Service for Mabel will be held Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 1:00 PM in the Brookfield Congregational Church in Brookfield. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in Brookfield Cemetery. Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield is assisting the family with arrangements.
