Marion W. Blackmer

April 13, 1931 — May 25, 2017

HARDWICK - Marion W. Blackmer, 86, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2017 in her home after a short illness.

She was born in Barre, on April 13, 1931, the only child of Frank (Bruno) and Susie (Winslow) Cometo.

Marion attended Barre High School, and went on to work as a personnel assistant to James and Martha Nields of Hardwick for many years.  She also worked for St. Aloysius Church in the rectory.  She was an active communicant of St. Aloysius Church and belonged to the Women's Group.

Marion enjoyed attending her son's sporting events, reading and the company of her friends.

Marion is predeceased by her parents, and her loving husband of 64 years, Lorenzo F. Blackmer, Jr. who passed away December 22, 2016.

She leaves her two sons, Mark F. Blackmer and his wife, Carol of Ware, John D. Blackmer and his wife, Connie of Hardwick, and her grandchildren, Nicole Blackmer and Jesse Blackmer.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Compassus Hospice for their kindness and support and especially to Marion's girls - Kathy, Tina and Anne for being by her side at all times.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 5 to7 PM at Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St., in Ware.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM, Wednesday, May 31, 2017 in St. Aloysius Church, 64 Church St., Gilbertville.  Interment will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Aloysius Church, P.O. Box 542, Gilbertville, MA  01031.
