Wheelwright - Mary C. (Olson) Ostiguy, 77, a long-time resident of Wheelwright, died on Thursday afternoon, July 10, 2025, at her home surrounded by family with her, following a brief period of declining health.
She leaves her husband of 40 years, Leo J. Ostiguy; her daughters, Tracy Vargas and her husband Jorge of Westerly, Rhode Island; Billie-Jo Cody and her partner Michael Gagnon of North Brookfield, her step-children, Colleen Richards and her husband Christopher Richards of Hague, New York, and Kenneth Ostiguy and his wife Sharon of Ware, as well as 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mary initially worked as a machine operator in the textile and knitting mills. Later, she worked as a CNA caregiver at the former Monson Developmental Center, and in group and private care homes. She loved working as a caregiver up until she recently became ill.
She and Leo spent many wonderful years together. They would attend car shows with the older cars that Leo had built and/or restored. She enjoyed crocheting, and camping in Hinsdale, New Hampshire as a regular seasonal camper, as well as cooking great meals for her family. Her greatest loves were her “grand and great grandbabies.” Many pets over the years have been doted on too, by her loving care.
A Celebration of Mary’s Life will be held at 2:00 PM at Billie-Jo’s home, 28 Donovan Rd., in North Brookfield on Saturday, August 2, 2025.
Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St., in Ware is assisting her family with her arrangements. An online tribute page is available at charbonneaufh.com.
