Ware - Mary J. (Tenney) Sullivan, 82, of Ware, died on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at her son's home following a period of declining health.
She leaves her son, John "Jack" W. Sullivan and his wife Elizabeth of Ware, her sister Nancy Lawrence of North Carolina, along with her sisters-in-law, Barbara Fusco of New Jersey, and Joanne O'Riley of Ware. She was predeceased by her late husband of 53 years, John E. Sullivan in 2014, as well as her brother, Wilder D. Tenney, Jr., and brothers-in-law Donald Lawrence and Richard O'Riley. She was born in Manchester, NH, daughter of the late Wilder D. and Iola (French) Tenney. She and John lived in Gilbertville for several years prior to moving to the family farm in Ware.
Mary graduated from Weare High School in New Hampshire and the Massachusetts School of Practical Nursing. She worked in the Operating Rooms at both Wing and Mary Lane Hospitals for several years prior to retiring.
Mary loved nature, having pets, and all kinds of animals. She has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Dakin Humane Society, P.O. Box 6307, Springfield, MA 01105 or the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or at www.cancer.org
Her family would like to thank the visiting nurses and staff of Overlook Hospice, and Mary's close friends, Joe, Laurie, Joanne, Doug and Sandy for their dedicated assistance with Mary's care.
A Celebration of Mary's Life will be held at a later date.
