North Brookfield – Michael “Baldy” J. Baldyga, 70, of North Brookfield, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Quaboag Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center following a brief period of declining health.
He is survived by his three sisters: Patricia Budnik and Margaret Waugh of North Brookfield, and Kathryn Baldyga of Vero Beach, FL; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Chester Baldyga; his mother, Elizabeth (Seamon) Baldyga; and his brother-in-law, Walter Waugh.
Baldy attended North Brookfield High School and went on to work at Leavitt’s Distribution Warehouse for several years. He also worked as a driver and laborer for the former D.A. Robinson Contracting in Barre. In the 1980s, Baldy proudly served as a member of the North Brookfield Fire Department, where he retired with the rank of Lieutenant.
In his free time, he enjoyed watching and following the Red Sox and Patriots, as well as deer hunting and fishing in his earlier years. He also enjoyed visiting with his good friend Jane Messier and other friends and neighbors in the senior living community where he resided.
A graveside service for Michael will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery in North Brookfield in the Spring. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 1-4pm in the American Legion Post 41 located at 163 North Main St. North Brookfield, MA.
