Nina Frieda Podkowka (Nimtz) 88, of Barre Road, Hardwick passed away on Friday January 31st, 2014.
Nina was born in Hardwick, and lived there most of her life. She was the youngest of the 8 children born to Lillian Mae and Albert Rieinholt Nimtz . Nina lived on Coy's hill in Warren during her 10 year marriage to Emile Podkowka then moved back to Hardwick in 1966. Nina moved to Ware last October where she lived with her daughter Brenda and her partner Bill Cooper until her death. Nina was a lover of family, birds and all God's creatures small and large.
Nina graduated from Hardwick High School in 1944 and was employed by Ware Shoe, Ware Knitters and then later in life worked for 15 years at Aquatic Plastic in West Brookfield from where she retired. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, partner and a friend to all.
She is sadly missed by lifelong partner of 47 years, Manual Lujan of Brookfield, her daughter Brenda Schworer and partner Bill Cooper of Ware, Her great granddaughter's Allysha Abbott of Brookfield and Hannah Abbott of Hardwick. She also leaves her sisters Rachel Noble of Wheelwright, Lillian Rys of Englewood, Florida and Maude Stone of Oakham as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral arrangements are private and will be held in the springtime. Nina will be interned with her family in Hardwick. Charbonneau Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangemnets.
