Paul "Scotty" W. Belcher

March 17, 1921 — March 2, 2017

Ware - Paul Wesley Belcher (Scotty), 95, died Thursday, March 2, 2017 in the Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in West Brookfield. He would have turned 96 on March 17.

He leaves his wife of 68 years, Yvonne D. (Noel) Belcher; one daughter, Karen Lanier and her husband Daniel of Ware; three grandchildren, Jason Lanier, Sarah Yurkunas and her husband Joseph and Nathan Lanier and his wife Lauren; three great-grandchildren, Avery, Merryn and Connor and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by two siblings, Edwin Belcher and Emily Harris.  He was born in Winchendon son of the late Rev. Joseph and Ruth (Barclay) Belcher and grew up in Somerville and lived in New York City for 45 years before moving to Ware in 1994.  He graduated from Somerville High School in 1939.

Mr. Belcher worked as a bartender/manager for 30 years at Harold's Show Spot in Manhattan and was a lifelong actor, working in hundreds of Off Broadway Shows as well as television, film and print work.

He was a United States Army Air Force Veteran of W.W. II.

Paul was a member of the United Church of Ware and enjoyed coin and stamp collecting as well as baseball cards and mementos.  He was an avid sports fan and loved the New York Giants and the New York Yankees. He participated in the Ware Community Theater, loved drawing, gardening and enjoying his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Paul will be held privately and there are no calling hours.  Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Second Chance Animal Shelter, Inc., P.O. Box 136, East Brookfield, MA 01515 or the American Heart Association, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049.  Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St., in Ware is assisting his family with arrangements.
