Philip H. Peirce

Brookfield - Philip H. Peirce, 81, of Brookfield died on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at home.



He leaves his  wife of 38 years, Linda M. Peirce; a daughter, Denise Gilman of Auburn; two step-sons, Andre Delage of New York and Roland Delage of Worcester; one brother, Roger Peirce and his wife Mary Kay of Omaha, NE; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a brother David Peirce.   He was born in Worcester, son of the late Roger and Eleanor (Gerroir) Peirce and has lived in Brookfield for 40 years.



Philip worked in quality control his whole life and was a Quality Control Manager at Wright Machine for more than 20 years before it closed in 1998.



He was an active member of the Brookfield Congregational Church and besides being a Trustee, he served as chairman of the Long Range Planning Committee which was responsible for bringing the addition to fruition.  He was the project coordinator for the restoration of the church and the addition. Phil was also an avid wood carver.



Phil was proud of the town he called home, and served Brookfield as a member of Housing Committee, Advisory Board, Personnel Board, and as an Assessor and  Selectman. Phil along with several others started an organization called A.P.P.L.E. Seed, Inc., which its main objective was to bring communication to this quaint little town.



He was a United States Army Veteran and was awarded the Lucy Stone Achievement Award in 2004 in recognition of outstanding community service.



A Funeral Service for Philip will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the Brookfield Congregational Church in Brookfield.  Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 from  5 to 7 PM at the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St. in West Brookfield.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Veterans Inc., 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605 or the Brookfield Congregational Church Steeple Repainting Fund, 8 Common St., Brookfield, MA 01506.
