Phyllis C. Jakshtis

June 26, 1929 — November 12, 2020

Hardwick - Phyllis C. (Obertuck) Jakshtis, 91, of Hardwick passed away on November 12, 2020.  She leaves her son, Richard Jakshtis, her daughter-in-law, Kim Denney, three grandchildren, Marlisa, Caroline and Sam, and two great-grandchildren, Iona and Ronan.  Phyllis was predeceased by her husband Francis Jakshtis in 2002.  She was born the daughter of the late John and Michalda (Leach) Overtuck.

Phyllis was a passionate seamstress and a consummate homemaker.   After completing high school in Hardwick, she attended the Pratt Institute of Fashion Design in NYC where she received formal education in fashion design and construction.  She returned to Hardwick where she worked as a household manager for the Mixter Family and married her hometown sweetheart, Francis Jakshtis.  Phyllis and Fran were a team and spent many years helping on the family farm, hosting large bean pot dinners and gatherings for family and friends both in Hardwick and at their camp on Moosehead Lake in northern Maine.  Phyllis was a noted local seamstress with her quilts winning many awards and her wedding dresses locally renowned.  She was active in the town of Hardwick serving as a voter Registrar, cub scout leader, volunteer at the Hardwick Fair and as a communicant of St. Aloysius Church.

She adored her husband and son Richard, and often referred to them as her pride and joy.  The love that she spread was shared by all in her circle.

Phyllis spent her later years in the Lutheran Home of Worcester where she continued to sew and spread joy.  The family will forever be grateful to the team of caregivers at the Lutheran Home who made her later years happy.

A Graveside Service for Phyllis will be held at a later date.  There are no calling hours.

Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant Street in Ware is assisting her family with arrangements.
