Monson – Raymond Edward Peterson, 73, passed away at home. Born in Palmer on October 8, 1951, he was the son of the late Robert W. and Rose S. (Sowa) Peterson.
Raymond was a graduate of Palmer High School and served in the Army National Guard. He was employed for years as a 1st Class Fireman/Boiler Operator at the Ludlow Industrial Complex and later as security guard in Springfield.
Ray loved music, reading, fishing, wrestling, watching westerns and spending time with family. A kind and quiet man, Ray had a witty and comical side he shared with family which were part of his everyday life, most especially at his home.
Raymond is survived by two brothers, Robert Peterson, Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Thorndike, James Peterson and his wife, Charlene, of Monson, and three sisters, Linda Hirsch of Brimfield, Marilyn Agostini and her husband, Joseph, of Murrieta, CA, and Darlene Bergeron-Burns and her husband, Richard, of Palmer. He was predeceased by his sister Lorraine Hunter in 2015. Ray was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews and was especially close with his nephew, Rob Hunter, whom he spent a lot of time with and shared many common hobbies and activities.
