Reedy J. Nealer, Jr., 87
North Brookfield - Reedy J. Nealer, Jr., 87, died peacefully on Friday, October 2, 2015 at UMASS Medical Center.
He leaves his wife of 54 years, Ann (Varney) Nealer; his daughter, Jean Contino and her husband William Contino, daughter Carol Nealer, and a sister, Gertrude Kennan all of North Brookfield. He was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade School and a member of St. Joseph's Church.
Reedy owned and operated North Brookfield Press for 64 years, was an assessor for the Town of North Brookfield for 31 years and served on the Cemetery Commission.
He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War serving in Germany.
He was past president of the Worcester County House of Printing Craftsmen, the Rotary Club of the Brookfield and the Worcester County Assessors Association. He was a member of the North Brookfield Council on Aging and served on the WCAA Executive Board for many years.
Reedy was also a member of the NAFCA, a charter member of the Bay Path Chapter 114, the Canal Sportsman's Club, the Central Mass Postcard Club and the Worcester County Model A Club.
He enjoyed camping, travelling, and riding in his 1929 Model A Tudor.
A Funeral Mass for Reedy will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph's Church in North Brookfield. Calling hours will be held Monday, October 5, from 5 to 7 PM in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield. Burial with Military Honors will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
