Richard G. Gutowski, 75
West Springfield - Richard G. Gutowski, 75, died peacefully on Friday, July 29, 2016 at his home.
He leaves his wife of 51 years, Rev. Karen Gutowski; and his beloved family, two children, Richard Gutowski and his wife Isabelle of West Springfield and Heather Murphy and her husband Edward of West Springfield; three grandchildren, Abigail, Cooper and Emilie. A brother-in-law, Stephen Montana and sister-in-law, Christine; and a nephew, Nicholas Montana and his wife Leily, and great nephew Aiden. He was born in Quincy and grew up in Framingham MA, son of the late Reginald G. and Audrey C. (Crosman) Gutowski, and lived two years in New Jersey before moving to West Springfield in 1973.
Rick enjoyed reading and keeping up with current events. And he loved playing cards with his family and playing with his grandchildren.
Mr. Gutowski owned and operated Spear Lumber Co, DBA K & R Supply in West Suffield, CT for 18 years, and then worked in sales and purchasing as the showroom manager for ABC Supply Co. in Springfield for 15 years before retiring in 2010.
He was a member of the West Springfield United Methodist Church.
A Funeral Service for Richard will be held Friday, August 5, at 10:00 AM at the West Springfield United Methodist Church, 800 Amostown Rd., West Springfield, MA. Following the service, the family will greet friends and relatives. There are no calling hours and burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, Finance Department, 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016, or a charity of your choice.
