North Brookfield - Richard F. Nykiel, 67, died Wednesday, January 3, 2018 in West Brookfield.
He leaves his wife of 38 years, Nancy J. (Charpentier) Nykiel; two daughters, Andrea Nykiel and her husband Michael Bizier of Marlborough and Pamela Nykiel and her husband Jason Blanchard of East Bridgewater; a sister, Susan Nykiel and her husband Ray Bub of Pownal, VT; two grandchildren, Mason and Luke Bizier and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother David. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Boleslaus "Walter" Nykiel and Bernice (Pocis) Nykiel and was a lifelong resident of North Brookfield.
Rich was a pattern maker for the former Warren Pumps in Warren before retiring.
Richard was a very proud member of the North Brookfield Fire Department for 30 years and was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Sawyer-Mathieu-Kearns American Legion Post 41 in North Brookfield.
A Funeral Mass for Richard will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 1:00 PM in St. Joseph's Church in North Brookfield. Calling hours will be held on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the North Brookfield Fire Department, 56 School St., North Brookfield, MA 01535.
