West Brookfield - Richard S. Parker, 87, of West Brookfield, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at home.
He leaves his beloved wife of 68 years, Nancy J. Parker of West Brookfield; his son, Michael R. Parker of Wilbraham; his daughter, Kathy A. Parker of Birmingham, AL; his brother, David Parker and his wife Theresa of Paxton; his sister, Jeanne Lytle of Brookfield; his granddaughters, Alyssa Parker and her husband Luke Hanlin, and Kristin Fiola and her husband Andrew of Medway; and his great-grandchildren, Jackson and Raegan Fiola, and Lucie Hanlin. He was predeceased by his sisters, Maureen Parker and Janyce Latwis. He was born in Spencer, son of the late Chester and Ann (Joyce) Parker.
Richard worked for many years as a chef and driver for several local diners he operated with his father. He also worked for years at Aquatic Plastics in West Brookfield.
Richard was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many. He was a life-long, avid stamp collector. He enjoyed watching the Patriots and football, and he loved spending time outside feeding the birds.
Calling hours will be held from 9:30am to 11am on Friday, December 15, 2023 in the Varnum Funeral Home, 43 E Main Street, in West Brookfield. A graveside service will be held in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery following the calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The American Cancer Society at https://donate.cancer.org/ .
