Ware-Richard L. Pierce, 57, passed away on June 14, 2014. He leaves his wife of 23 years, Linda (Prucnal)  Pierce, his children, Travis Pierce and his wife Sara of Ware, Amanda Pierce of Ware, Thomas Sadowski and his fiancée Wendy of Southwick, Daniel Sadowski and his wife Andrea of Kensington CT, and Nicole Sadowski and her fiancé Matt of  Greenfield, a sister Liane Slosek of Chicopee, 5 grandchildren, a niece and his aunts. He was born in Ware son of Donald and Shirley (Cady) Pierce and was a lifelong resident. He worked in the lumber industry most of his life, starting with H.C. Cady & Son, where he worked with his grandfather Leslie Cady. He worked for many other lumber companies, one of which was where he met his wife. He started playing bass guitar in bands in his teenage years. He went on to play steel guitar in bands such as The Town and Countrymen in the Lake George area and Slippery Moon from Greenfield. He was proud to play in a band with his son Travis, who inherited his father's musical prowess. In his younger days he was an athlete playing basketball and baseball , and went on to coach his children when they played. He loved to watch his daughter Amanda play softball, and was very proud of her accomplishments in the sport. In last couple of years he started to become an avid cider and winemaker. Calling Hours for Richard  will be held on Monday June 23rd  from 5 to 7 pm, at the Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St. in Ware.
