Ware - Richard T. Seveney, 68, of Sunny Hill Drive, peacefully passed away on Sunday February 26, 2017 surrounded by his family.
He leaves his devoted wife of 46 years, Elaine M. (Mitus) Seveney; seven children: Rebecca Hebert and her husband Mark of Ware, Amy Wnek and her husband Daniel of Holden, Christopher Seveney and his wife Diana of Annandale Virginia, Justin Seveney of Three Rivers, Shane Seveney of Springfield, Raechel Seveney of Tennessee and Jayson Seveney of Palmer; a sister, Denise Seveney of Ware; his mother-in-law, Claire Mitus of Ware; twelve grandchildren, Megan, Joey, Matthew, Bella, Yasmina, Joslyn, Livvie, Tiari, Lucy, Richard, Sapphyre and Xzavier and several nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by a brother, William Seveney, and son of the late Frederick and Elizabeth (Hare) Seveney. He was born and raised in Ware, and was a lifelong resident.
Mr. Seveney worked for 33 years in the Ware Public School System. His career began as a 7th grade Social Studies teacher and continued to later serve as Ware High School principal and interim superintendent, in addition to the Middle School principal, before retiring in 2006. Richard loved teaching and helping others. For many years, he coached Ware Little League and Ware High School football and basketball.
He is most remembered for his love of camping, traveling in his motor home and spending time with his family and friends. There is no other place he would rather be than at Walt Disney World visiting his beloved Mickey Mouse, a memory the family shares in, from multiple annual trips since 1974.
He was a member of All Saints Church in Ware, where A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Richard will be held on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 10:00 AM. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2017 from 4 to 7 PM in the Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St. in Ware.
