Ware - Richard O. St. George, 94, died on October 10, 2025, at Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center surrounded by his family.
He leaves behind to cherish many loving memories - his six children, Lynne of Ware, Cheryl Howe of Gilbertville, Mary Beth Gunther of Ware, Richard Jr. and his wife, Maureen of West Warren, Roy and his wife, Cindy of Hardwick, and Kevin and his wife, Lynn of Kline Township, PA. He was also blessed with 12 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was pre-deceased by his son-in-law, Michael Howe, his son-in-law, Paul Gunther, his grandson, Benjamin St. George, his wife, Bebe St. George, his brother, Raymond, and his sister, Alice Sloat.
Richard was born in Ware, son of the late Nap and Madeline (McMahon) St. George. He graduated from Ware High School in 1950. Richard enlisted in the United States Marine Corps after graduation. He served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal. Richard was a proud Marine and always wore his Marine Veteran hat wherever he went. He was a former member of the American Legion in Gilbertville.
He lived in Gilbertville for many years before moving back to Ware. He was an active parishioner of St. Aloysius Church in Gilbertville. He was employed by Brunswick Shoe Company, American Athletic Shoe, and the Ware School System. He also served as a part-time police officer in Hardwick during the 1960’s.
Richard always enjoyed time with his family. His eyes lit up, and his face always had a huge smile when his great-grandchildren came for a visit.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 11:15am in St. Aloysius Church, 64 Church Street in Gilbertville. Calling hours will be held from 8:30 to 10:30am on Thursday, October 23, 2025, in the Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant Street in Ware. Burial with military honors will be in New St. William Cemetery in Ware following the mass.
