WEST BROOKFIELD: Rita L. Wilmot (Bartoszek), 76, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Bernard A. Wilmot, who passed away in November 2024, as well as by her beloved pets: her two cats, Miss Sassy and Vinny, and her dog, Sammy. Rita is survived by her three sons, Scott Andrews and his wife, Cindy, of Leominster; Sean Wilmot and his wife, Christine, of Worcester; and Jonathan Andrews and his wife, Joelle, of West Warren. She also leaves her cherished grandchildren, Megan, Alyssa, Teiggierre, Shawn and his wife Heather, Tyler, Kevin, Kelsea , and Kalob; her great-grandchildren, Natalie, Alexander, Bianca, Camren, Rylee, Cameron, and Keegan; her brother, Joseph "Jay" Bartoszek, Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Warren; her nephews, Justin Bartoszek of Newburyport and Tim Bartoszek of Westborough; her sister, Sandra Crampton, her late husband John, nephew Jeffrey, his wife Jean, and nephew Patrick, many cousins, dear friends, and loved ones. 

Born and raised in Ware, Rita was the daughter of the late Joseph and Doris (Piche) Bartoszek, Sr. She attended Ware Public Schools and later earned an associate’s degree in nursing from Springfield Technical Community College. Rita devoted her life to caring for others as a Registered Nurse, working at several area healthcare facilities in the area, including Mary Lane Hospital, Monson Developmental Center, Mercy Hospital, and the Kindred Wound Center. She retired in 2015 after many years of dedicated service. Family was the center of Rita’s life. She adored her grandchildren and treasured every opportunity to spend time with them. 

She loved cooking, baking, entertaining family and friends, and making new friends at the Senior Center. Ritaalso enjoyed many creative pursuits, including knitting, crocheting, painting, pottery, photography, and writing. She even tried her hand at writing a children’s book. Rita’s warmth, kindness, infectious smile, and generous spirit touched the lives of all who knew her, and she will be missed deeply. 

All are invited to attend calling hours on September 26th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Varnum Funeral Home, 43 East Main Street, West Brookfield, MA 01585.
