Robert E. Matzko, 80
Monson - Robert E. Matzko, 80, formerly of Springfield and Westfield, died Wednesday, October 1, 2014 in Sandalwood Center in Oxford.
He leaves four sons, Robert E. Matzko, Jr. and Eric Matzko of Springfield and Benjamin Matzko and David Matzko of Chicopee; four daughters, Sharon Schmidt and her husband Norman of Arizona, Elizabeth Matzko and her husband Frederick Rider of Agawam, Sandy Lee Matzko and Sherrie Matzko of Chicopee; one sister, Alice of New Britain, CT; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three siblings, John Matzko, Barbara Sikora and Ernest Matzko. He was born and grew up in Springfield, son of the late John and Dorothy E. (Marble) Matzko and later lived in Westfield, Maine and Michigan before moving to Monson.
Mr. Matzko was a Computer Systems Analyst for 40 years and worked for Kidder-Stacey and Strathmore Paper Company before retiring.
Robert loved the outdoors and was an avid mountain climber.
A Funeral Service for Robert will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the funeral home.
