Rose M. DeSantis 1920-2013
Rose M. DeSantis passed away in the early morning of September 24th. She was the daughter of the late John and Marianna (Centofanti) DeSantis. Born in Introdaqua, Italy on April 1, 1920, Rose came to America with her family at the age of 3 on the ship called the Julius Caesar.
Rose graduated from Ware High School in 1938. She worked at the Ware Shoe Factory and the Wm. E. Wright Co. in West Warren. Rose made beautiful special occasion cakes alongside her sister, Jeanette. She was a talented seamstress. Up until a few weeks ago, Rose continued to enjoy making clothes for herself and her nephew, Frank, Jr.
Rose was predeceased by her sisters Jeanette DeSantis and Theresa Fargnoli, and her brothers Querino and Rinaldo DeSantis. She is survived by her brother Frank Sr. and his wife, Domenica , her nephew, Frank Jr.,and her nieces Rosemarie and her husband Mike Parker of Wilbraham , Gloria and her husband David Goddu of Thorndike, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Rose will be sadly missed, especially by her nephew Frank Jr, who cared for her in her home. Frank Jr. and Rose created memories through their special friendship and shared laughter and joy.
Funeral arrangements will be provided by the Charbonneau Funeral Home at 30 Pleasant Street in Ware on Friday, September 27th. There will be a calling hour from 10 - 11am followed by a service at the funeral home. Burial will be at the New St. Williams Cemetary on West Main St. in Ware. Donations may be made in Rose's memory to a charity of ones choice.
