West Brookfield/Webster - Shirley A. (Decker) Patnaude, 84, a long-time former resident of West Brookfield, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Christopher Heights Assisted Living in Webster.
She leaves her son, Jeffrey F. Patnaude of Indian Orchard; two daughters, Lisa A. Steiner and her husband Mark Steiner of Oxford, and Heidi B. Robinson and her companion Michael Keyes of Ware; along with five grandchildren, Ryan and Savannah Steiner, Shawn and Marissa Robinson, and Jenna Morris; and three great-grandchildren, Devin and Alexa Robinson, and Layla DuBois. She was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Leroy F. Patnaude, Jr. in 2003; and her great-grandson, Jaeden Robinson in 2016. She was born in Springfield, daughter of the late Henry and Bertha Decker.
Shirley was a graduate of Chicopee High School and went to work immediately after at New England Telephone as a Clerk to the Supervisor. She also worked at Tri-Valley Elder Services in multiple positions and locations including the West Brookfield Senior Center and the West Warren Senior Center. Shirley also volunteered at the West Brookfield Elementary School and the Oncology Department at St. Vincent Hospital. Shirley loved being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed traveling, vacationing in Maine and antiquing throughout New England especially the Brimfield Flea Market along with her husband Leroy. She was an avid New York Yankee's fan and her favorite football players were Gronk and Brady. She was a former member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.
A Funeral Service for Shirley will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., in West Brookfield. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery following the service.
