Sibyl T. Swistak, 89
West Warren - Sibyl T. (Bombardier) Swistak, 89, of Main Street, passed away on Saturday, November, 19, 2016 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
She leaves her son, Steven Swistak and his wife Kathy of Warren, two daughters, Rosemary Bubien of Pelham, AL and Patricia Swistak of West Warren; six grandchildren, Peter and Mark Swistak, Kim Swistak Carr, and their spouses and children; Toriellen Swistak of West Brookfield; Nicholas Roth of Somers, CT, and Alexander Roth of Portland, ME; nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Peter F. Swistak in 2008, her son, Michael Swistak in October, and her son-in-law, James K. Bubien in 2011. She was the daughter of the late, Paul Bombardier and Dorothy Houle, and was a life-long resident of West Warren.
Sibyl was educated in the local schools and graduated from Becker College. She was a charter member of the VFW Auxillary 8606, and was a communicant of St. Thomas and St. Paul's Church and worked on many of the church functions.
Along with Peter, she traveled to all 50 United States. She loved going to the beach, and was an avid knitter. She knitted large Christmas stockings for all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass for Sibyl will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 43 North St., West Warren. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 22, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main Street, West Brookfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Thomas Aquinas Preservation Fund, 43 North Street, West Warren, MA 01092, or the Worcester County Food Bank, 474 Boston Turnpike Rd., Shrewsbury, MA 01545, or the Springfield Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 9045, Springfield, MA 01102.
