West Warren - Sophie V. Starzyk, 91, of West Warren, died on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center.
She leaves her nephews Edward Wyngowski and Lawrence Wyngowski; her nieces Patricia (Wyngowski) Herold, Joanne (Wyngowski) Kennen, and Rosemary (Wyngowski) Benvenuti. Sophie was the youngest of six children to the late Lawrence and Josephine (Vos) Starzyk, and was predeceased by all of her siblings and her nephew, Joseph Wyngowski. She was born in West Warren and was a life-long resident of the town.
After graduating from high school, Sophie began her 44 year career with Mass Mutual, and ended it as a Senior Executive Secretary, retiring at age 62.
Sophie was proud of her Polish heritage and her faith. She credits her long life to her faith in God and her family and friends. Sophie loved flowers and generously shared that love by regularly arranging flowers at St. Stanislaus Churh in West Warren.
A Funeral Mass for Sophie will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 11:00am in St. Stanislaus Church, 114 South St., in West Warren. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 to 10:30am in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., in West Brookfield prior to the mass. Burial will be in St. Peter & St. Paul Cemetery in Three Rivers following the mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 2270 Main Street, West Warren, MA 01092.
