Susan G. Minutillo

February 21, 1951 — November 14, 2022

Chicopee - Susan Gail (Ashley) Minutillo, 71, of Chicopee, passed away peacefully at home, in the early morning hours of November 14, 2022, with her daughters by her side.

She leaves her daughters, Theresa Kincaid of Chicopee, Ginger Hicks and her husband John of West Brookfield, and her sons, Richard Minutillo and his wife Renee of Kentucky, Thomas Minutillo and his wife Kathrine of North Brookfield, and nine grandchildren, Elizabeth, Rebeka, and Benjamin Kincaid, Melanie Bateman, Jordan and Mackenzie Kelly, and Jessica, Rachel, and Logan Minutillo. Susan was predeceased by her first husband, John Day. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of the late Harley W. and Alva M. (Bulman) Ashley and moved to Shelburne Falls when she was 14.

In addition to raising her children, Susan worked as a Home Health Aide for several years. She loved animals, and she will be missed by her pet Cockatoo (Twinky) and Macaw (Cuddles). Susan was a music lover who had an angelic voice. Her family fondly remembers her beautiful singing heard throughout the house. She was a nature lover and enjoyed weekends driving the roads of New England taking in the scenery while playing her vast collection of Neil Diamond cassette tapes. As an avid poetry enthusiast, her work was once published in Great Poems of the Western World and she was also nominated for the 1989 Golden Poet Award.

Susan was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Chicopee.

Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., in West Brookfield is assisting her family with arrangements.
