West Brookfield - Walter F. St. George, 90, died Thursday, July 27, 2017 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.
He leaves his loving wife of 48 years, Mary Ellen St. George; one son, James St. George of West Brookfield; two daughters, Laura Colombi and her husband Mark of Southwick and Maria Dame and her husband Robert of Warren; one brother, Robert St. George of Warren; two sisters, Mary Martin of West Warren and Jane Messier of North Brookfield; three grandchildren, Holly, Stephanie and Gina Dame and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Warren St. George in 2005. He was born in Warren, MA, son of the late Charles W. and Mary E. (Bullock) St. George and was a lifelong resident of West Brookfield. He graduated from the former Warren High School.
Mr. St. George was a machinist for 36 years, and worked at A & M Tool of Southbridge for 32 years before retiring in 1988.
Walter was a member of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in West Brookfield and was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He was a United States Navy Veteran of W.W. II and the Korean War.
A Funeral Mass for Walter will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in West Brookfield. A calling hour will be held prior to the Mass from 9 to 10 AM in the church. Burial will be in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery in Ware. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the West Brookfield Rescue Squad, Inc., P.O. Box 540, West Brookfield, MA 01585. Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield is assiting his family with arrangements.
