West Brookfield - Wayne C. Cullen, 73, of West Brookfield, died suddenly on Friday, December 29, 2023 at Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer.
He leaves his wife of 51 years, Priscilla A. Cullen, and their daughter, Kristie L. Boothroyd and her husband Shawn of South Windsor, CT; he also leaves two grandchildren, Emma G. Boothroyd and Ethan S. Boothroyd, as well as his brother, Stephen Cullen and his sister, Linda Cullen. He was predeceased by his son, Daniel W. Cullen just last year, as well as his brother, David Cullen, and his sister Donna Wilson. He was born on January 2, 1950, the son of the late William D. and Elizabeth (Ferrin) Cullen.
Wayne was a graduate of Auburn High School, and the Worcester Industrial Technical Institute. He worked as the manager of technical operations for SELCO, the town of Shrewsbury's electric power and cable company for 28 years before retiring.
As an avid nature lover, hunter and fisherman, Wayne enjoyed taking advantage of the local fish and game throughout the area, as well as traveling on many hunting and fishing excursions over the years. He was also a talented wood worker creating clocks, chests, bookcases and smaller objects. His greatest love was for his family. He was a kind, sweet, gentle man and will be greatly missed by his family and lifelong friends.
A private Funeral Service for Wayne will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 11:30am in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., in West Brookfield. A private calling hour will be held from 10:30 to 11:30am, just prior to service. Family has asked those attending to kindly consider wearing a mask to protect vulnerable people from Covid. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the East Quabbin Land Trust, P.O.
