William L. Witaszek

January 15, 1953 — July 1, 2019

West Warren - William L. "Billy" Witaszek, 66, of West Warren, died peacefully on July 1, 2019 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by his family after a brief illness.



He leaves his wife of 44 years, Madeline "Lynn" (Plante) Witaszek; three children, son, Bernard and his wife Jennifer, son, Glenn and his wife Kerstin, and daughter, Melissa.  He also leaves his beloved grandchildren, Dante (the Boss), Kellie and Sloane; and great-granddaughter Rylee.  He is survived by his mother, Lucille (Voisin) Witaszek.  He also leaves his three brothers and their wives, Joseph and Susan, Richard and Sherry, and James and Alice, his sister-in-law, Sharon, as well as nieces, extended family members and close friends.  He was predeceased by his father, Joseph H. Witaszek, Sr. and his brother, Charles.



Billy was born in Palmer, and was a life-long resident of West Warren.  He was a graduate of Quaboag Regional High School in Warren and attended STCC pursuing automotive repair.  He operated his own business, Bill's Citgo for forty-five years.  He was a member of the Warren Fire Department from 1970 - 1989, and was on the Board of Engineers.  He also served as Civil Defense Director, EMT, and Fire Chief.  Bill was an avid collector, enjoyed spending time with his family, going to Vermont, and looked forward to his Saturday morning gathering at the garage.



Calling hours for Billy will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2019 from 2 to 4PM in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main Street in West Brookfield.  A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, July 8, 2019, at 11:00AM in Pine Grove Cemetery in Warren.  The funeral procession will leave the funeral home at approximately 10:30AM and will pass by Bill's Citgo in the Warren town center on the way to the cemetery.
