North Brookfield – Winston “Wink” Prescott Waugh, Jr., 37, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
Winston was born in Worcester on December 5, 1988, and grew up in Spencer, where he attended local schools, before later making his home in North Brookfield. Throughout his life, he held various jobs and possessed a natural ability to quickly learn and master new skills. Known for his strong work ethic, Wink spent many years working alongside his father and Uncle Geno hanging drywall – a trade he took great pride in. At the time of his passing, he was employed at Stone & Lime, located in North Brookfield.
He is survived by his father, Winston P. Waugh, Sr. of North Brookfield; his mother, Karen “Mickey” Benoit of Spencer; his sister, Kayley Waugh and her significant other, Ben Ramsey of Ware; his brother, John “Jack” Hall, Jr. and his wife Karoline of Ware; and his six beloved nephews, Jarryd, Levi, Klyde, Wyatt, Wilson and Carter. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.
Wink was loving son, a fiercely protective big brother, and a devoted, fun-loving uncle. His family is what meant most to him, especially his six nephews. He shared an exceptionally close bond with his oldest nephew, Jarryd, serving as a steady and loving father figure in his life from the moment he was born.
Though he often kept to himself, those who truly knew Wink knew him to be laid-back, genuine, and quietly funny. His loyalty, sense of humor, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Calling hours for Wink will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, from 4 to 6 pm in the Varnum Funeral Home, 43 East Main Street in West Brookfield. Immediately following the calling hours, friends and family are invited to Hardwick Crossing, 262 Lower Road, in Gilbertville to join his family in remembering Wink and celebrating his life.
