Christine (Thivierge) Weeks

New Braintree - Christine Weeks, 90, passed away peacefully on December 5 at home in New Braintree with her family by her side. 

She is survived by her son, Kenneth Weeks, of New Braintree, and her daughter, Susan Weeks, of Reno, Nevada. She was predeceased by her son, Michael Weeks as well as her parents, Gaudias and Yvonne (Gauthier) Thivierge, and her brother, Roger Thivierge. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Amy Weeks Gray, Sarah Weeks, Alyson Weeks, Alex Weeks and their families, as well as her daughter in-law, Elizabeth Weeks.  She had countless friends and extended family, each one holding a place in her heart.

Christine was born in 1928 and raised in Amesbury, Massachusetts.  She loved growing up near the ocean, it became a part of her soul.  She lived a life of charity and service to others as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, social worker and active member of the Warren Seventh Day Adventist Church.  She loved to travel and spent much of her retirement visiting countries all around the world.  Her house is filled with photos of her travels, and she was always happy to share stories of the places she had seen and the people she met along the way.  In addition to travel, she loved gardening, doing crafts, jig saw and word puzzles as well as watching her great grandchildren play.

Christine had a quiet strength and was determined to always do what was “right”, regardless of adversity or popular opinion.  Through her example, she was a very loving and caring guide to her family and those around her, encouraging us all to display kindness, forgiveness and empathy for others.  She mastered enjoying the simple things in life, like taking a walk in the sunshine or eating a bowl of Friendly’s coffee ice cream, watching her birds at the feeder, or singing along with the musical programs on her TV.  She was deeply insightful and wise; her practical, common sense manner will be missed by everyone.

Christine’s family would like to express our thanks to Overlook hospice staff and to the private aids and many friends that assisted with her care.  We are grateful for your help; we could never have cared for her at home without you.

A Funeral Service for Christine will be held on Monday, December 16, 2019 at 11:00am in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main Street, West Brookfield. A Calling Hour will be held prior to the service from 10:00-11:00AM.  In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Worcester County Food Pantry at 474 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.
