Ware - Claire (Cogswell) Daigle, 86, of Ware died on Friday, August 14, 2020 at Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center.
She was born on September 16, 1933 in Boston, daughter of the late Thomas and Agnes (McGowan) Cogswell.
She leaves her seven children; Ernest Daigle, Jr. and his wife Patricia (Delimat) of Chicopee and his children, John & Diana; Douglas Daigle of Ware and his children, Laura Laboy and Ariel Harper; Bruce Daigle and his wife Linda (Brooks) of Florida and his children, Jessica Clouse and Lisa Daigle; Michelle (Daigle) Auclair of Ware and her children, Daniel Daigle and Jennifer (Hossington) Stevens; Mark Daigle and his wife Michelle of Northampton and his children, Ian and Evan Daigle; Michael Daigle and his wife Bernadette (Bayno) of Palmer and his son Scott; Pamela (Daigle) Cappel and her husband Robert Cappel of Pleasanton, CA and her daughters, Elizabeth and Rebecca; her sister, Mary Komins, as well as fifteen great grandchildren.
She was married to Ernest J. Daigle, Sr. until his passing in 2006. She later developed a loving relationship with Alphonse Mathieu of Ware. They were together for 11 loving years.
She is predeceased by her sister, Joan Cook, her brother, Thomas Cogswell, her son-in-law, Steven Auclair and her grandson, Thomas Daigle.
Claire's major job, for most of her life, was being a homemaker, although she worked at the Ware Shoe Shop before the children started to arrive. She was a member of the PTA and the School Board while the children were young. In her later years, she was a long-term Secretary for the Cogswell Family Association.
She was a long-time member of Mount Carmel Parish, after its closing she joined the congregation of All Saints Parish.
A Funeral Service for Claire will be held Thursday, August 20, 2020 at 10:00AM in All Saint’s Church in Ware. Calling hours will be held, Wednesday, August 19, 2020 from 4-6PM at Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant Street in Ware. Burial will be in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery following mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org or 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA, 02452. For everyone’s health and safety, along with current regulations, masks must be worn along with social distancing.
