Clifford M. Rutter, 89, of Warren, died on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center.
He leaves his beloved friend, Barbara C. Mouriguart of West Palm Beach, Florida. He also leaves his sister, Betsy J. Rutter and her husband Larry Tuttle of Monson, his brother, Alden B. Rutter and his wife Joan of Belchertown, his sister-in-law, Janet Rutter as well as 2 nieces and 3 nephews along with their families. He was predeceased by his brother Robert D. Rutter and his sister Judy Doering. He was born in Ware, son of the late Robert F. and Marjorie E. (Delano) Rutter, and was a life-long resident of Warren.
Clifford graduated from Warren High School in 1951. He was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean War serving from 1953 to 1957.
Cliff worked as a machine operator at Flexcon for several years, before retiring in 1995. He was very active in the community. He was a former member of the Federated Church of Warren, and the former Quaboag Lodge of Masons where he was a life-time member and past master. He was recently recognized for 60 years as a Past Master. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies in Springfield, the Morning Star Chapter R.A.M., the Springfield Council R&SM, the Melha Shriners of Springfield, and the former Warren Thief Detecting Society. He was also a 14 gallon blood donor. He loved his time spent at the family vacation home on Cliff Island, Maine which has been in his family since 1880.
A Funeral Service for Cliff will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at 10:30AM in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main Street in West Brookfield. A calling hour will be held in the funeral home from 9:30 to 10:30AM prior to the service. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Warren.
In lieu of flowers, Cliff’s wish was that memorial donations be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01004 or at http://shrinershospitalsforchildren.org or to a charity of donor’s choice.
