Dorothy A. "Dorrie" Godbout, 76, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at home after courageous battle with cancer.

 

She is survived by her partner and best friend, Andre Charron; her son, Anthony R. Godbout and his wife Pauahi of West Boylston; her daughter, Christina Stewart and her husband Mark of Great Barrington;  a sister, Jane Pawlec of Saint Cloud, Florida, and her former husband, Richard Godbout of Whitinsville. She also leaves three grandchildren, Jennifer and Matthew Godbout and Sawyer Stewart and several nieces and nephews.  

 

Dorothy was born August 21, 1941 in Northbridge, and raised in Manchaug.  She  was the daughter of Anthony  and Geneieve  (Kurtyka) Pitula.  Dorothy attended Sutton High School and was a hairdresser for many years.  She owned the La Petite Beauty Salon at her former residence in Manchaug.  She then worked at the Quaboag Rubber Company in the Finishing Department and Laboratory until retiring in 2004.  Dorrie was an avid reader and enjoyed working in her garden and spending time with her family.

 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the nurses at the Oncology Department of Mary Lane Hospital for their friendship and support.

 

Funeral services for Dorrie will be held privately, and there are no calling hours.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Baystate Regional Cancer Program, Baystate Mary Lane Hospital, 85 South St., Ware, MA 01082.  Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St., in Ware is assisting her family with arrangements.
