Dorothy Harriet (Scott) Wood

Hardwick - Dorothy Harriet (Scott) Wood, 97, of Hardwick, died on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at her home with her loving family by her side.

Born in Methuen 97 years ago.  Daughter of Fred and Dorothy Scott and sister of Colby and Phyllis, she graduated from Lawrence High School in 1941 and from the Lawrence General Hospital School of Nursing in 1948.  Predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Robert M. Wood in 1992 and their son Donald in 1986, she is remembered fondly by her sons Douglas of Colorado and David of Massachusetts and daughter Martha of Pennsylvania as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. 

Dorothy worked as a hospital nurse at Lawrence General Hospital for 18 years, and then in community nursing and school nursing in Central Massachusetts for the remainder of her career, and continued advising friends and family as to their health after that.  She had a life-long regard and concern for children.

Condolences for the family can be sent to P.O. Box 131, Hardwick, MA 01037.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Lawrence General Hospital Memorial Fund, by sending a check to LGH Charitable Trust, 1 General Street, P.O. Box 189, Lawrence, MA 01842 and note Dorothy’s name on the memo line. 

Interment will be held at a later date in Spring Grove Cemetery, in Andover.
