Elaine M. (Mallon) Emery

North Brookfield - Elaine M. (Mallon) Emery,78, of Ward Street, died Sunday, December 26, 2021, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Thomas L. Emery; her daughter, Michelle Blood and her husband Brian of East Brookfield; her four grandsons: Robert Blood, Braden Auger, Quinn Blood, and Keegan Blood; two brothers-in-law, Paul McQuaid and Gene Befford, both of North Brookfield; and several nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces. She is predeceased by her son, Thomas J. Emery; and her siblings, Frances Befford, Claire McQuaid, Robert Mallon, and David Mallon, all of North Brookfield, and Alice Gilman of Warren. She was the daughter of the late John and Adela (Lemieux) Mallon and lived her entire life in North Brookfield.

Mrs. Emery started her career as a medical secretary for Dr. John Curran, Sr., and Dr. John Curran, Jr. She went back to school and graduated in 1988 from Quinsigamond Community College as a registered nurse. She worked for several years on the medical-surgical floor at Memorial Hospital and Memorial Home Healthcare. She finished her career at the Webster/Dudley Family Health Center. When she retired in 2005, she started her favorite job, watching her grandsons and great-nephews. 

She was an active member of the St. Joseph Parish as a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Bereavement Committee. She dedicated her life to service and helping others as a Cub Scout Den Leader and assisting working mothers by volunteering to watch over their children. Her favorite saying was, “What can I do to help?”

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 31, 2021 at 10AM at St. Joseph’s Church, 296 Main Street in North Brookfield. Everyone is to meet at church. Calling hours will be held Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 4 to 6 PM in Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main Street in West Brookfield. Burial will be held in the Spring at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in North Brookfield. At the family’s request, masks are requested for all in attendance at the funeral home and at church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph’s Renovation Fund, 28 Mt. Pleasant Street, North Brookfield, MA 01535.
