Eleanore M. (Castano) Paquette

Eleanore M. (Castano) Paquette, 84 of West Brookfield, died on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 surrounded by her loving family at home.

She leaves her husband of 61 years, Lester J. Paquette, Sr.; her daughters, JoAnne Martone of West Brookfield and Kathleen M. Landry (Daniel R. Landry) of Brookfield; and her son, Lester J. Paquette, Jr. (Amy B. Paquette) of West Brookfield.  She also leaves seven grandchildren, Nico Martone, Christopher, Gabriel, Leo, and Stella Paquette, and Jonathan and Andrew Landry.  She leaves her sister Patricia McCarthy, brothers Thomas and Daniel Castano, and was predeceased by her brother Joeseph Castano. She was born in Passaic, New Jersey, to the late Joseph A. and Eleanor Z. (Sullivan) Castano.  

Eleanore earned her Bachelor’s degree from Anna Maria College, and went on to work as an elementary school teacher in West Brookfield before retiring.

Eleanore was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother to her family.  She enjoyed her time spent teaching in town, especially with her first grade classes. She was unfailingly kind.

She was a long-time member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in West Brookfield.

A Funeral Mass for Eleanore will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023 at 10AM in Sacred Heart Church, 22 West Main St., in West Brookfield.  Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 5 to 7pm in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield.  Burial will be in Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery following mass.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Quaboag Education Association Teachers’ Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 909, Warren, MA 01083.
