Ware - Gerald (Gerry) Haley, Sr., 87, was called home to his family by the Lord on December 7th, 2020.
Born in Ware, MA in June of 1933 to James and Marion Haley, he worked the family farm with his older brothers Russell, James and Stuart, raising Hereford cattle until its sale in 1973.
A graduate of Ware High School, he married the love of his life, Judith in 1964 and worked for 32 years as a US Mail contractor. Upon retirement he stayed active with part time jobs at Quirk Wire and Friendly’s.
Gerry loved ice cream, tending to his flower gardens, listening to country music, watching sports and westerns. The Dodgers were his favorite team and often recalled visiting Ebbetts Field as a kid. He enjoyed picking up his daily newspapers and solving crossword puzzles. He especially looked forward to his annual trip to the Big E and attending Christ Memorial Church on Sundays. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
He leaves behind his son, Gerald Jr., and his daughter, Linda; five grandchildren, Brandon and his wife, Caylin, Kyle and his partner Samantha, Danielle, Timothy and Hannah; three great- grandchildren, Chevelle, Levi and Wyatt, as well as many nephews and nieces.
He will forever be missed and will hold a special place in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know him. We tried to find all of the words to describe Gerry and although there will never be enough, he was sincere, prideful, ambitious, tenderhearted, patient, quiet, practical, reliable and secretly witty.
A Graveside Service for Gerry will be held privately in Hardwick Center Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Gerry has requested that donations be made to: Christ Memorial Church, 133 Main Street, P.O. Box 43, North Brookfield, MA 01535
Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St., in Ware is assisting his family with arrangements.
